The Trail Rules: Terms & Conditions

Our Commitment to the Journey
At TLC Adventure Co., we’re all about the experience. However, sometimes the trail throws us a curveball. We reserve the right to cancel a trip if we don't hit the minimum number of explorers needed to make the trek viable. If that happens, you’ll get a full refund, including your deposit.

We also keep a close eye on the horizon for your safety. If health, welfare, or "Force Majeure" (the big stuff outside our control like wildfires, floods, or government closures) makes the trip impossible, we’ve got your back with a full credit for a future adventure (minus any minor expenses already baked in). While we can’t offer cash refunds for these "Act of God" moments, your credit is good for 2 full years.

Pro Tip: We highly recommend Travel Protection Insurance. It’s the best way to safeguard your investment against the unexpected.

The Fluid Itinerary
Nature doesn’t follow a script. We might need to shift a route or swap a campsite due to weather, road closures, or fire risks. If we have to pivot to keep you safe, the price and duration stay the same, and we’ll work tirelessly to keep the "soul" of the adventure intact. Your safety is our North Star—if we have to change the path, trust that it’s for the right reasons.

The Permit Game (Grand Canyon)
Backpacking the Canyon is a privilege managed by the NPS lottery. We handle the heavy lifting of the application for you 5 months out. Because the lottery is exactly that—a gamble—your trip is "permit pending" until the NPS gives us the green light. If our first choice doesn't pan out, we’ll work with you to find a new route or a new date, or apply your funds to a future trek.

The Crew & The Craft
Every great adventure needs a solid crew. If a trip falls below our minimum headcount, we may have to call it off (with a full refund to you). For custom groups, if your numbers drop, the per-person cost might shift a bit to keep the gears turning.

Mind, Body, and Spirit
Be honest with us—and yourself—about where you’re at. We need to know about any medical or physical conditions before we head out. Our guides are there to lead, and they have the final say; if a participant’s health or fitness level puts themselves or the crew at risk, the guide may ask them to sitthsi out out. In these tough calls, we can’t offer refunds.

Remember, we’re in the wilderness, not a hospital. Evacuations are intense and expensive, so come prepared with your own insurance and any meds you need. Do the work before you arrive—train for the mileage and the elevation so you can actually enjoy the view when you get there.
