Stop Looking and Book!

If you're considering hiking the Grand Canyon, stop looking and book with TLC Adventure Co. Aubrey and I were incredibly fortunate to go on this adventure with TLC, and we honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience with Chris and Theresa.

From the moment Theresa picked us up at our hotel in Phoenix until she dropped us back off after the trip, they went above and beyond. The transportation was completely complimentary, despite the roughly eight-hour round-trip drive. That level of generosity and hospitality set the tone for the entire adventure.

Throughout the hike, Chris and Theresa made us feel completely safe and well cared for. You can immediately tell they know the canyon inside and out, and they genuinely care about the people they're guiding. Theresa is the most lovely, joyful, and caring person. She's incredibly well-rounded, a genuinely wonderful human being, and truly the best tour guide you could hope to find in the Grand Canyon. The WNBA definitely missed out on this former college star! Chris is a tour guide's tour guide—charismatic and endlessly passionate about the canyon. It's basically been his backyard for the last twenty years, and he knows it better than anyone. Throughout the trip, they shared endless fascinating stories and snippets about the Grand Canyon, making the hike just as educational as it was unforgettable. We're also convinced Chris knows every line from Seinfeld and Game of Thrones by heart, and both their stories and sense of humor kept us laughing throughout the trip.

Before the hike even began, they had already thought of everything. All of our food and camping gear were included in the price, so we didn't have to worry about buying or bringing any extra items before the trip. After we reached camp, they prepared an incredible dinner of fresh broccoli salad and delicious chicken fajitas that honestly tasted even better after a full day of hiking. They thought of every detail to make us comfortable.

As they warned us beforehand, Aubrey and I definitely suffered from two or three days of the "Kaibab Shuffle" after the hike—but it was absolutely worth every sore muscle!

The experience didn't end when we finished the hike. Chris and Theresa treated us to lunch at Fratelli's in Flagstaff, where we shared a fantastic pizza together. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable adventure.

What impressed us most, though, wasn't just their professionalism or their knowledge of the canyon—it was the kind of people they are. They treated everyone they met with kindness, humility, and genuine respect. We were so lucky and blessed to meet them both. They made our overnight hike through the Grand Canyon an even more spiritual and wholesome experience than we ever imagined. We came away feeling like Chris and Theresa taught us just as much about being kind, humble people as the Grand Canyon itself taught us about the natural world.

Family of 5...

Our guide, Chris was great at communicating and very experienced at working with hikers of all skill levels. We had a family of 5 including 3 teenagers and our hike ended up being a little over 4 miles to Cedar Ridge and back. Chris provided plenty of education and entertainment throughout the hike. At Cedar Ridge, Chris made us a great lunch of wraps that he had previously discussed with us before the hike to make sure there were no issues. Then, after some fun with wild life (squirrels and a couple of Ravens), we started the ascent. This is where Chris earned our greatest respect because he was very patient and stopped many times for us so we could enjoy the hike back to the top. He shared some pro-tip hiking techniques and some personal stories that helped us get through the most challenging sections of the climb. We highly recommend Chris!

Perfect Pace...

Chris, our tour guide, is easily one of the most fascinating individuals we've met in years. His kindness, deep knowledge of the Grand Canyon, and remarkable survival skills made us feel completely at ease—especially as two 65+ year-olds who've spent the last four decades behind desks.

From the moment we met him, Chris's polite and thoughtful introduction instilled a sense of confidence and care that set the tone for the entire hike. His stories of hiking over 800 miles were not only impressive but shared with such authenticity that we felt like old friends by the end of the day."

Trail Chef...

Chris was, without exception, the best guide we have ever had. He was passionate about the Canyon and extremely knowledgeable about its history, cultures, and organic life. He was patient and respectful of our needs and made sure that the experience was fun for us.

Also, he made us a delicious late lunch on the trail. We will certainly seek him out for any future adventures in the area.
